Everybody knows that laughter is the best medicine, there is nothing that a good dose of laughter cannot cure. If you think that after the Trevor Noah shows the NTN capped the lid on their laughter supplies then think again. The NTN is bringing comedy lovers from across the country a versatile comedy festival that is aimed at exploring Namibia’s cultural diaspora. The festival titled Rawmedy is set to promote understanding through laughter between Namibia’s diverse cultures. It is similar to the highly entertaining quasi-political genre established by Lazarus Jacobs.
This year’s festival houses the crème de la crème of both Namibian and South African comedy in Wayne McKay, Oscar Brown and the crazy laugh out loud quartet Ndangi Lileka, Joh White, Weezil and Slick the Dick from Free Your Mind. The two-day festival kicks off  this Friday with performances by Oscar Brown and Free Your Mind. South African stand-up comedian, actor, radio personality and voice-over artist Wayne McKay will add more bang to the show. South African born Oscar Brown and now Berlin based comedian returns to Africa to deliver more of his quirky jokes and funny antics. The festival will close with Wayne McKay in his second performance on Saturday night.
The shows will be hosted by popular master of ceremonies Neville Basson who is also a funny man in his own right All shows will start at 20:00 at the NTN backstage theater. Tickets are available for N$80 at the NTN box office. This is a must-see for those in need of a dose of laughter therapy. I can guarantee that you will be rolling on the floor with laughter at the end of both shows.
