The Deloitte Best Company to Work For ‘Large Company’ award went to the Ohlthaver & List Group of Companies F.L.T.R. Bea van Rooyen (Deloitte), Berthold Mukuahima, Paulina Shihepo, Sven Thieme (O&L MD) and Junius Mungunda (Deloitte managing partner).

Deloitte hosted the first Best Company to Work For awards ceremony in Namibia earlier this week.
“Presenting this ceremony in Namibia is a significant achievement for Deloitte as it is further evidence of our continued commitment to provide you, the Namibian business community, with relevant information about the challenges and opportunities facing Namibian entities,” said Junius Mungunda, managing partner of Deloitte in Namibia.
Deloitte conducted a survey in four countries to determine best employer status.
Mungunda said the results of the survey are not dependent on what a company and its management say about their policies and HR practices, but is instead determined by the sentiment of their employees.
Ramsay Mc Donald, partner at Deloitte and head of the Best Company to Work For survey provided some background on the 2012 survey, saying in Namibia there were nine companies that participated in the survey.
“This year, we decided to introduce two size categories, namely the Medium company with between 50 and 500 employees, and the Large company (with more than 500 employees),” he said.
Deloitte recognised Agra, Hollard Insurance, MVA Fund, Nampower and Ohlthaver & List group of companies, for achieving an average score greater than or equal to the Deloitte benchmark standard of excellence.
Second time participant,  MVA Fund, was announced as winner of the 2012 Medium company award. In the 2011 survey, the MVA Fund came second in the survey in Namibia.
The Large company award went to the Ohlthaver & List group of companies. This company is a multi year participant in the survey. Ohlthaver & List was the overall winner in Namibia in 2011. The winners will be representing Namibia in the Southern African regional awards to be held in Johannesburg on 04 October 2012.
“What we saw from [the] results is that Namibian companies can, and do, hold their own against the best performing employers inAfrica.” said Mungunda.
