MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy

For the first time in its history, MTC has announced that it will be sponsoring the fast growing sport of boxing and to this effect it has committed itself to provide material and financial support the Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy. Chief Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Officer of MTC, Tim Ekandjo  made this announcement at an exciting event held at the MTC head quarters earlier this week. “Following our exit from Rugby a few weeks ago, where we believe we made a tremendous. contribution for nine consecutive years, we have not decided to save that investment but to once again plough it back into sport. This time in the form of boxing,” said Ekandjo.
The sponsorship commitment totals N$7.5 million over 3 years and is divided into a yearly investment of N$2, 5 million.
According to Ekandjo, the Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy has done extremely well for themselves thus proving them worthy of the handsome donation. “They need to be applauded for having produced world class boxers who continue to do well despite the fact that they have no official sponsor. It is this kind of perseverance that caught our attention and today they are deserving of MTC’s support for the next three years.”
Chairman of the Academy, Nestor Tobias thanked MTC for the handsome donation and gave his assurance that the money will go a long way to develop grassroots boxing. Young boxers from the academy have embarked on a nation-wide tour to establish clubs in the country.
The Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy has also changed its name to “MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy.”
Tobias took the opportunity to confirm that the “No Mercy” international Boxing Bonanza will be held next week at the Windhoek Country Club.
