Labour law for all

The Law Society of Namibia (LSN) recently launched a small publication to help employees understand their legal rights as far as employment conditions are concerned.
The Labour Law booklet is a 22-page book which forms part of the ongoing process of legal education conducted by the Law Society on a regular basis. The book was launched during a reception at the Hilton Hotel.
“Public legal education is important and the LSN is, on a continuous basis, busy with projects relating to human rights, the rule of law and the education of the public and the members of the LSN,” the statutory body for all legal practitioners said.
The compilation of the booklet involved the commitment and dedication of various legal practitioners, as part of their social responsibility.
“We wish to express our sincere appreciation towards the Democracy and Human Rights Fund of the Embassy of the United States of America who was willing, a few years back, to take our hands in strengthening the pillars of our free society by sponsoring the printing costs of this project,” said the Law Society.
Explaining the reason for choosing this topic, the Law Society said the work force is seldom aware of his/her legal rights with regard to rights and duties in respect of the labour law.
