Beaches cleaned up

Over 1200 volunteers from various schools, companies, the Namibia Defence Force, government institutions, environmental protection clubs as well as the public at large held a clean up campaign at the coastal towns a fortnight ago. At Walvis Bay, three tons of rubbish was collected while Luderitz collected 10 tons which has raised eyebrows. Organisers of the clean up campaign, the Namibian Coast Conservation and Management (NACOMA) Project says it is unbelievable that the town collected 300 plastic bags of rubbish which amounts to 40kg a bag. At the time of going to print, NACOMA was still waiting for feedback from Oranjemund, Henties Bay and Swakopmund.
