More than one thousand weaners went under the hammer earlier this month at Agra’s weaner auction at Nomtsas. Th average price per animal was N$4343 with a highest price of N$30.30/kg achieved by heifers of 301kg or heavier.
Guest sellers, Hartebeestloop Bonsmaras and Dr Johan Smit, added to the quality of the auction with an offer of top quality Bonsmara bulls. Eight bulls were sold for an average of N$57813. The most expensive bull of Hartebeestloop was sold for N$92500 to André Rossouw. Stephan Botes bought two bulls, one for N$80,000 and the other for N$60,000 while Arnold Klein paid N$75,000 and  N$40,000 respectively for two excellent young bulls. The sellers expressed their satisfaction with these sales in a “traditionally difficult area for bull sales”.  For the auction, Hartebeestloop specifically selected bulls that are not related to the existing Namibian genetic pool.
