Public meetings on domestic workers heads South

The Wages Commission on Domestic Workers is heading South to host its third rounds of public meetings to garner input from employers, employees, civil societies, trade unions and all interested parties.
According to a press statement issues by Paulus Ashipala, PRO at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the aim of these meetings is to investigate conditions of employment as well as the minimum wages for domestic workers.
The next round of meeting will take place on 03 September 2012 in Lüderitz at the Lutheran Church Hall at Benguela , on 05 September in Keetmanshoop at Tseiblaagte WK/Rover Hall, on 06 September  in Mariental at Aimablaagte Community Hall and on 07 September in Rehoboth at the Hermanus Van Wyk Memorial Hall. All meeting start at 09:00.
Interested persons are also hereby notified that the deadline to make written representations/submissions to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare has been extended to 30 September 2012.
The Commission completed the first rounds of meetings from 25 to 29 June 2012 in the Erongo region and its second rounds from 16 to 27 July in the North and North Eastern regions.
