Old Mutual Namibia announced on Thursday that the group has secured the prestigious ‘Top Employer in Africa’ status 2012, as confirmed by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF) Institute which conducted the ‘Top Employers Survey’ earlier this year.
Said Patricia Olivier, HR Executive for Old Mutual Namibia, “This is a great milestone to have reached in relation to leadership and people practices: specifically as we constantly strive to positively benchmark our employee experience in relation to other Namibian employers.”
Being recognised as a responsible employer that cares about developing and rewarding its people is important for several reasons. It builds overall reputation as an industry leader, helps companies attract and retain the best talent and grows loyalty and ambassadorship.
Aside from Old Mutual being certified as a Top Employer in Africa (specifically in Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya), Old Mutual South Africa was ranked number 1 in the Giants of Industry component of the survey, and number 1 in the financial services category by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF).
The Top Employers methodology has been developed by the CRF Institute, which while based in The Netherlands, operates in thirteen countries on four continents. The survey independently identifies top performers in the areas of HR, leadership and strategy, following objective research into HR policies on reward, benefits, culture management, and career development and working conditions.
