Ondangwa-based Oshana Rest Camp, which has recently come under new management, is being extended. Gideon Grobler, who took over the management of the camp in August 2011, is determined to make Oshana Rest Camp the best camp in the North. He has plans to turn it into a lodge in future.
Open from Monday to Saturday, Oshana Rest Camp consists of a revamped restaurant, fully furnished bar and camp sites. Renovations are ongoing to upgrade the camp sites. The camp site currently employs 13 staff members who are always willing to lend a helping hand to customers.
Everyone is welcome to visit the rest camp and for those wanting to rent the tents at the rest camp, especially tour groups, these are available at N$200 for single tents and N$250 for double tents. However, discounts are given to large groups, said Gideon.
One outstanding feature of the Oshana Rest Camp is a dam, which is situated in the middle of the rest camp. During rainy seasons, fishing provides yet another experience for those visiting the rest camp. In addition to the 18 rooms that will soon be built at the rest camp, a massage parlor and salon will complement the furnished new rest camp.
Oshana Rest Camp caters for year-end functions, birthdays and events which are held every month. A Potjie-Kos Competition, held on 18 August and an Indian Fancy Dress party slated for 31 August , form part of the August events calendar.
