Schools set to open as per the approved date – Minister

Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Hon. Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, has confirmed that information that has been circulated informing parents and learners that schools are re-opening for the second trimester on 11 June is false.

The Ministry in a statement this week said that schools will open 20 May, on a Monday as per the approved 2017 School Calendar while the hostels will open on 29 May and school hostel personnel are expected to report for duty on 26 May.

The Ministry understands the panic and confusion that the false circulated message has caused and would like to assure all learners, parents, guardians, teachers and all their stakeholders that the content is false and unfounded.
