May – the month for Stroke Awareness

ATA International Namibia, together with LifeLink Emergency Rescue Services and Hitradio Namibia, this month will be supporting the Stroke Awareness through various initiatives.

According to ATA the aim of the whole concept is to raise awareness about STROKE. Through the , awareness campaign the public will be able to recognise and identify those that would have been attacked by a stroke and be able to react in the proper manner. “A Stroke can be deadly if not recognised and treated in time,” they said.

During this Month, ATA is encouraging the public as well as companies to get their free Stroke Awareness poster -via email-for print out and to pin it on the information boards or to give it to family and friends.

“The posters inform everybody how to recognise and prevent a Stroke. Our posters are “There for Life” to Save a Life,” ATA added.

Furthermore ATA said the public can get more information about Strokes through their free presentation evenings and radio talks on Hitradio Namibia.

According to the WHO data published in May 2014 Stroke Deaths in Namibia reached 1,211 or 9.33% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate is 115.86 per 100,000 of population ranks Namibia #60 in the world.
