The refurbished premises now boasts of world class sporting facilities among them rugby, hockey and cricket fields, two netball courts and a 500 square metre family restaurant.
Trustco, in line with its on-going endeavour to invest in the development of the community, has committed itself to this sponsorship initiative for a period of five years.
The facilities were established in 1916 and have over the years become a beacon for sport development.
Quinton van Rooyen, Managing Director of Trustco, was upbeat about his company’s partnership with United Club. “We feel honoured to be part of sport development in Namibia, more so in partnership with one of the oldest clubs in the country.
“The rationale behind this venture is painted on our joint ideology that the world can be a better place for all if we advance the principle of creating wealth through strong family ties and communal relations. And we believe that sport if properly developed, can enhance the creation of wealth.”
He added: “We are confident that these facilities will be put to good use not only by the United Club, but that the surrounding communities will continue to utilise the facilities, in this era of limited sports field.”
Trustco has invested in squash to the tune of N$1 million over a three year period. The company says it will continue this thrust adding that it prefers to involve itself in organisations and clubs that promise to provide sound administration and effective business plans in sport development.
“We want to believe that United Club is one of those with sound administration and our wish is that the club will now expand the participation base.”
The launch was attended by 1500 guests and featured a live performance by South African pop-star, Ray Dylan.
