Agra scoops accolades by shovel loads
Hannes Brits, Mariette Botha and Michael Hongonekua recently represented their employer, Agra Ltd at the 2017 Professional Management Review awards.
Agra received no less than four PMR awards for their prowess in providing seed to cereal and vegetable farmers, supplying farm implements, and as auctioneers of game and livestock
In the categories of seed cultivar providers and farm implement dealerships, Agra won Diamond Arrow awards, the highest award, and in the categories of game and livestock, Agra was awarded Golden Arrow awards.
The annual PMR reviews work on a subscription model. Participating companies are then vetted by their peers in their particular industry. The aggregate score collected from the respondents, determines whether a participating company qualifies for an award, and the level at which the awards is made. The focus is largely on customer service and customer satisfaction.
Dr Tjama Tjivuka, Vice-Chancellor of the Namibia University of Science and Technology was the keynote speaker at the award ceremony in Windhoek at the end of March.
Dr Tjivuka stated the fact that people live in tough times with poor economic performance, economic slowdown; increased uncertainty about the economy, more competition and tighter budgets, [must] motivate businesses to take responsibility instead of starting to blame. “We should create a sound foundation for anticipated future growth and work to economic agility”, he said.
The purpose of the awards is to create a marketing tool, enhance excellence and set benchmarks for competitors in specific industries or services.
Agra said it appreciates its management and staff’s contributions and role they play in putting Agra’s brand among the top brands within the agriculture sector. “Without our employees’ inputs and or clients’ loyal support, Agra Limited would not have been able to be in the top position in our industry and business.”
“The acknowledgement through awards such as the PMR awards is proof that Agra’s business is in line with our vision to set the benchmark in our chosen markets benefitting all our stakeholders on a sustainable basis and our mission to be a market leader in agricultural and household related products and services” said Advertising and Promotions Manager Botha.
