Second Bass Angling event slated for weekend

Von Bach Dam with this weekend host the second Bank Windhoek Bass Angling National Competition which will be between 25 baits and 35 anglers in all three categories namely ladies, men and the youth.

The competition which commenced in February, saw Bank Windhoek contiuned its sponsonship to the Namibia Bass Angling Association, for the fourth year running.

According to the organisors, local bass angling mainly takes place in the Von Bach close to Okahandja and Lake Oanab just outside Rehoboth.

Chairman of Bass Anglers Association of Namibia said,“The sponsorship from Bank Windhoek is used to host our competitions and without this very important sponsorship, we simply won’t be able to stage them. Secondly, the funds are used to develop the sport with a particular focus on woman and youth development.”

According to Grant everything is set for the weekend and he further invited new anglers and the general public to come and spend the day at the event.

The programme for the rest of the year is as follows:
25 March: National Competition at Von Bach Dam
22 April:National Competition at Oanob Dam
12 and 13 May:B.A.S.S Nation Namibian Contender Qualification Event. Venue to be confirmed
27 May: National Competition at Von Bach Dam
17 June: Winter Bass Classic at Von Bach Dam
19 and 20 August: National trials. Venue to be confirmed
9 September: National Competition at Von Bach Dam
29 and 30 September: Corporate Bass Challenge. Venue to be confirmed.
5 and 7 October: South Africa, Vaal River, Black Bass World Championship
27 and 28 October: Summer Bass Classic at Von Bach Dam
11 November: National Competition at Oanob Dam
2 December: Christmas Cup at Oanob Dam
