Employers’ conference gets boost from local bank

First National Bank Manager for Sponsorships and Promotions, Gordon Pokolo this week presented a sponsorship cheque to the Namibian Employers’ Federation (NEF), Marketing and Liaison Officer, Helena Veico and the NEF Secretary General, Tim Parkhouse, as their organisation is set to host the 2017 East, Central and Southern African Employer Organizations Conference in Walvis Bay.

 

The Regional Employers Federations will meet in Walvis Bay to discuss issues of boosting employment creation, assisting the informal economy, poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

The meet up of representatives of employer organisations from east, central and southern Africa will take place from 14 to 15 February at the Protea Pelican Bay Hotel, with some 40 senior officials representing employers’ organisations from as far as Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Madagascar to attend.

The theme for 2017 event is “Training for Development and Job creation especially for the Youth.” and the group is set to discuss the importance of employment for economic growth, youth empowerment, skills development, poverty alleviation, capacity building and sustainable development.

NEF said that they will be welcoming the “Governor of Erongo Region, Hon. Cleophas Mutjavikua, Mayor of Walvis Bay, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation, Bro-Matthew Shinguadja, representatives from the Ministry of Youth, the National Council as well as some prominent, young and successful business personalities will deliver presentations.”
