NamPower to suspend power supply to some areas over outstanding accounts

NamPower will suspend power supply to a number of villages, local and regional authorities with overdue accounts next week.

The decision was taken after continuous engagements with the affected parties to settle their outstanding accounts did not yield positive results,” a press statement released this week read.

The Villages of Maltahöhe, Bethanie, Koes, Gibeon, Kalkrand, Berseba, Tses, including Mariental, Rehoboth and the Kombat Mining town now known as Congo Namibia Trading (Pty) Ltd.

The Khomas Regional Council Settlements of Bloukrans, Hatsamas, Kanube and Groot Aub will also be out in the dark.

The Karas Regional Council Settlements are the most affected with over 30 settlements including essential services such as the Noordoewer Pumpstation, a Water Treatment Plant at Aus and one of the two Border Post Pump Stations.

The institutions that provide critical services are kindly advised to arrange for standby generation or make alternative arrangement for electricity supply,” said the Managing Director in a statement
