Cloud in Africa

“In Africa, businesses and governments have been eager to adopt cloud and its benefits since it was first introduced,” says Tony Munro, Solutions Executive: Dimension Data Emerging Africa.
According to Munro, government institutions are often constrained by IT budgets, data sovereignty and security need for departmental autonomy and capital to implement and run sophisticated ICT systems. “The adoption of cloud computing can reduce operational risk, optimise savings and offer strategic agility which would enable governments to overcome these challenges,” he says.
Cloud technology presents a new consumption model for ICT solutions and services wrapped in a predictable, monthly commercial model which allows its adopters to reduce cost as cloud reduces the total cost of ownership of managing infrastructure and applications. Dimension Data’s comprehensive portfolio of cloud computing services offers clients a flexible, cost-efficient way of procuring computing resources. Dimension Data’s Managed Cloud Platform™ (MCP), a pre-integrated and fully-managed foundation for global cloud delivery, allows clients to harness the benefits of cloud.
