Vogel putts to claim Senior Open at the Coast

16 December 2016 – The Senior Open Golf Championship took place in Swakopmund at the Rossmund Golf Course, from 13 to 14 December..

This year the two day competition attracted around 35 golfers, who came from different parts that included Windhoek, Tsumeb, Okahandja as well as participants from the coast.

Gerd Vogel was the overall winner after a closely contested battle between him and Christo Botha and Kobus de Klerk from Tsumeb. The winner was decided on a count-out with Gerd Vogel winning with 71 stableford points.

Christo Botha ended in second place and Kobus de Klerk came in third place with 70 points respectively.

It was revenge time for the coastal players who have lost the trophy in May 2016. The final score being 530 points for the coast versus 492 points for the central golfers,” said Tim Botha, senior coastal golfer.

During the tournament the players not only competed individually, but also had to battle it out to win the Central versus Coastal trophy.

We are very thankful for Bank Windhoek’s generous donation and support towards senior golf in Namibia,” continued Botha.
