Swimmers impress in Tsumeb

The second Bank Windhoek Long Course gala for the 2016/2017 swimming season was held at the Kupferquelle Resort in Tsumeb on 5 November.
Having the gala outside Windhoek created a sense of excitement for the swimmers, especially the younger swimmers who has not toured yet. The convenience of most swimmers and parents residing at the resort where the gala was held was evident in the relaxing and festive atmosphere that accompanies this gala.
A total of 57 swimmers took part in the event, representing 3 clubs: Dolphins Swimming Club (48 swimmers), Namib Swim Academia (7 swimmers) and Swakopmund Swimming Club (2 Swimmers).
Mikah Burger had an excellent swim in the boys 12 and under 50m Butterfly breaking his own age group record with a time of 31,10 seconds. His previous record stood at 31.54 seconds, which he set on 28 March 2016. Although only one record was broken at the gala over the weekend, the swimmers performed very well. Over 162 improved, personal best times were achieved.
The next Bank Windhoek Long Course gala is scheduled for 3 December 2016 and will be held in the 50m swimming pool at Olympia Windhoek, which will then be the third long course gala for the season.
