Soul reverberates at Haenitzburg

Event: Soul songs with accompaniment
Venue: Haenitzburg Castle in Windhoek
Date: Saturday 08 October
Time: 17:00
Entry: N$50

Ondjila Y’Ondjaba concert agency announced this week that their popular Classics @ the Castle series will resume this weekend with soul singer Oompie rendering his favourites from the world of soul.
These open-air concerts are a standard feature of the summer entertainment scene and has become very popular with Windhoek residents. The concerts are hosted on the terrace with the idea that guests come for a sundowner to appreciate the entertainment and then stay for dinner from the upmarket hotel’s sumptuous menu. It is however not compulsory to stay for dinner.
The popular Classics @ The Castle outdoors concerts resumes this Saturday but with a new and wider approach. The organisers have opted to extend the range of music and to allow for popular genres to be performed there from time to time – provided that the rendition is – classy!
On the stage this Saturday is Oompie, a singer whose voice oozes soul. He is known from his erstwhile performances with the ‘old crocks’ of the Ugly Creatures Band. His original music is inspired by soul, gospel and jazz – and he loves to cover South African Mbaqanga artists like Ringo Madlingozi or Malaika as well as international soul singers Luther Vandross, Baby Face or Stevie Wonder.
He is accompanied by Anthony G on percussion and Roberto on keyboards.
Note that a cover charge of N$ 50 will be levied! Show starts at 17h00 and stretches until well after sundowner. No bookings will be accepted and attendance is on a first come first served basis.
