Salt takes on the English Channel
Local businessman Bruce Salt (left) received a N$160,000 sponsorship this week from SABMiller’s Marketing Manager, Linda Buckingham, representing the brewer’s Flying Fish flavoured beer. Bruce leaves Namibia on 22 September for England where a week later, he has marked two dates, 27 and 28, for his attempt to swim cross the English Channel. If Bruce completes this gruelling 14 to 18 hour swim across one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, he will become the first Namibia to do so. His swim is in aid of the Cancer Care Namibia Fund, established by his elder brother Niel Salt, who succumbed to lymphoma in 2011. This challenge, at its core, is one that echoes the ethos of Flying Fish’ brand manifesto of being daring and different.
