The Gobabis community wants it to be more attractive to visitors and safer for its own residents. Last week, over 350 community members from the police, the Namibian defence force and the office of Governor Loura Vendapi Mc-Leod-Katjirua, cleaned and cleared the area behind Legare Stadium to improve safety and hygiene in that part of town.
The clean-up was sponsored by Namibia Breweries which has conducted almost 50 clean-up operations over the past three years. Many has become success stories such as Project Shine at the coast, the Kaokoland Clean-up Project and the Recycle Namibia Forum which hosts the annual Schools Recycling Competition.
“We have always prescribed to the philosophy of caring for the community as well as for the environment, we believe that this initiative supports our purpose for creating a future, enhancing life” said Virginia Kangootui of Namibia Breweries.
