Namdebbers open their hearts
Namdeb employees opened their hearts during June and July collecting food, blankets and clothes amongst themselves and their friends, and then donating these items to the Mayor of Oranjemund to bolster his office’s charity work. A similar donation will be made to the Mayor of Lüderitz at a later stage.
This week Namdeb said “This initiative which is also aligned to the government’s call for citizens to join hands in helping the less fortunate, resulted in 136 blankets, 18 bags of clothing and many nonperishable food items with an estimated value of N$20,000, handed to the Mayor of Oranjemund, Councillor Henry Coetzee.
His Worship Coetzee expressed his sincere gratitude to those who contributed to the humble cause. He gave assurance that the Mayor’s Office will ensure that the right people in the community benefit from the donation.
At the same occasion, Namdeb’s General Manager, Riaan Burger, thanked all employees for their contribution, stating that such an initiative should become an on-going community effort and not only be a once-off event.
