French open new multimedia library
The Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Hon Katrina Hanse-Himarwa toasts the quarter century success of the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre with the Ambassador of France, HE Mrs Jacqueline Bassa Mazzoni. At the centre’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the opening of its new multimedia library was announced
The Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) this week celebrated 25 years in Namibia in style with the Minister of Education, a former Prime Minister and the French Ambassador in attendance.
The 25th anniversary celebrations will continue through July with various exciting events scheduled.
The French Ambassador H.E. Mrs Jacqueline Bassa Mazzoni, joined by the guest of honour, Hon Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, the Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, both reaffirmed the Franco Namibian friendship and cooperation in the arts and culture, and the importance of the centre as a platform for artists.
Hon Hanse-Himarwa reiterated the support of the government for the arts. She complimented the FNCC for its works over the past two and a half decades for Namibian arts and the Namibian cultural identity. Former Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Nahas Angula also attended the ceremony with many other ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural partners, and the Namibian public.
The French national anthem was restyled by French singer Armande and the Namibian national anthem was beautifully performed by Miss H and Enchanté in an acapella version that invigorated the audience.
After the congratulatory speeches of the French ambassador and the minister, the official opening of the new FNCC multimedia library took place. The minister was the first government official to take a digital tour of the new facility. An extensive exhibition of the centre and its achievements is on display in the FNCC Gallery for the duration of the month.
