Saturday is D Day for us – Mannetti

The Brave Warriors will start the defence of the Cosafa castle cup in the quarterfinals on Saturday against the Zebras of Botswana and coach Ricardo Mannetti has got his squad list in on time after waiting on some late approval by Wednesday night.
Peter Shalulile and Ronald Ketjijere will join the Brave Warriors ahead of the 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup clash as Willem Mwedihanga asked to be left out.
“Our captain Ronald (Ketjijere) will join us after Amatuks agreed to release him as they are relegated and have nothing to play for anymore while Peter (Shalulile) scored twice to lead Highland Park through to the PSL on Wednesday and will also join us for the Botswana clash. We have been in camp for over three weeks and can’t wait any longer. We want to play,” Mannetti said.
The coach also revealed that Ketjiere’s club mate Willem Mwedihanga will not play on Saturday as he requested to be excused from the competition.
“Willem has asked to be left out and his reason is that he is tired and needs to rest. We have finalized our 20-men squad and I have all the trust in this boys to do the job. We came a long way and Saturday is D Day for us,”explained Mannetti.
Mannetti also called on the nation to fill-up the stadium on Saturday and cheer the team to victory.
“It will be our first game at the competition and it is very important that we have all the support we can get. I call upon everyone football loving person to get his red t shirt and paint the Sam Nujoma red. My plea is that please for the first time, let’s fill up Sam Nujoma with red and support the boys. We want to defend the cup and home support will make or break us but if the stadium is packed we can do much better because it drives the players to deliver more and feel appreciated,” said Mannetti.
Oswaldo Xamseb makes the squad together with teammate Itamunua Keimuine who starred for the team during last year’s triumph in South Africa. Left out of the final team are Riaan Hanamub, Romario Ndjavera, David Peterson, Patience Gaseb, David Peterson, Roger Katjiteo and Immanuel Heita. Chris Katjiukua and Virgil Vries are also left out owning to their recent transgressions.
The Warriors will play Botswana at 17h30 in the second quarterfinal match which will be preceded by South Africa vs Group B winners at 15h00. Tickets for this prestigious tournament are on sale for N$20 and can be purchased at the Namibia Football Association’s Football House, the Freedom Land Mobile Police Station, Greenwell Police Station and at all TN Mobile Teleshops in Windhoek.
