Kurt Darren performs in Windhoek this weekend

Singer, songwriter and actor Kurt Darren is set to grace Namibian soil once more as he performs at the Windhoek show grounds this weekend. Darren is best known for his Afrikaans hits ‘Kaptein and Meisie Meisie’ which sold over 60,000 copies when it was realised in 2002.Born Kurt Van Heerden, on 19 February 1970 in Pretoria,  Darren has been part of the South African music industry for years. He released his first album titled ‘For your precious love’ in 1995 but the year 2002 was the year in which he got his musical breakthrough when ‘Meisie Meisie was released.
His performances include performing with the group Smokie on a cruise liner where they sang their famous song ‘Living next door to Alice’. Darren has won several awards for his music including the award for Best Sokkie dance album at the South African Music Awards last year.
He also performed at last years Huisegenoot Hart Van Windhoek show with fellow South African musicians Heinz Winkler, Freshly Ground and Irish boy band, Westlife and other Namibian singers.n He has also been a guest judge on the South African version of the popular singing talent show ‘Idols’.
He is a great performer and knows how to reach out to his audience. “He makes one feel part of the show in an amazing way”, is a common response from people who listen to him for the first time.
Hennie Jacobs better known as Diedrick from Afrikaans soapie 7de laan will be the host of the event.
The show takes place at the Windhoek Show Grounds this Saturday, 02 June. The gates open at 18:00. Tickets are N$150 at any Shoprite or Checkers in the country.
