BA confident of retaining title

The five nominees for the FNB Player of the Year Award. With the 2012/2013 MTC Premiership season kick off still months away, a confident Black Africa chairman, Cassius Moetie has thrown down the gauntlet to the other teams in the premiership  declaring that the two-time champions will again be crowned champions at the end of the new season.
Responding to an enquiry from the Economist after the launch of the inaugural SMS Voting Campaign for the FNB Player of the Year Award which invites football enthusiasts and the public to vote by sms to the number 89888 and the initial of the first name and surname of the nominated player, the outgoing chairman said:
“Black Africa has decided to win the MTC/NPL Premiership for the third time. We have vested interest in the third-term, we cannot win the league for two consecutive times, we want three consecutive championship titles and we will get this, watch out for BA next season.”
With the FNB Player of The Year set to be announced at the Black Africa Gala Dinner and Annual Awards scheduled for the end of this month, Moetie said that they have matured as champions of Namibian football, and as a result, are committed to trying out and inventing new things in the local game.
“This is the first time in the history of Namibia Football that the public will vote through an sms voting campaign for the FNB Player of the Year. All along, the coaching staff of Black Africa decided who amongst the twenty four players will be the Player of the Year, but this time round, management understood the difficult predicament the coaches would be in to select the Black Africa Player of the Year.”
Five players have been nominated for this year’s Player of the Year Award which comes with a cool N$20 000 prize money sponsored by FNB Namibia, the team’s principal sponsor.  Arnold Subeb, Bryan Bantam, Eslin Kamuhanga, Klaas Blom and Marvin Katiire have been selected by the coaching staff as the players for whom the public can vote for the coveted award.
Each sms cost N$3 and the public are free to send many sms in favour of a preferred FNB Player of the Year. The sms voting campaign started on Wednesday, 23 May and will close on Friday, 22 June 2012.
