Best business ideas awarded

The Namibia Business Innovation Centre (NBIC) launched the annual business plan competition on 23 May at the Habitat Research and Development Centre in Katutura. On the same day, the NBIC also  held its prize giving ceremony, awarding its Top 10 business ideas at the GZ Function Centre.
The business plan competition which was first launched in 2010, gives Namibians the opportunity to submit their creative and original business plans which, they hope, will turn into viable commercial endeavours. Those with the best business plans stand a chance to win cash prizes, as well as receive mentorship and coaching from recognised business leaders in order to turn their plans into sustainable and long-term businesses.
The competition offers cash prizes worth N$34 000 to the first three entrepreneurs with the best plans. The cash prizes are sponsored by the Development Bank of Namibia, Namib Mills and Agra. The runner-up prizes are sponsored by First National Bank.
The top three winners of this year’s Namibia Business Innovation Centre Business Idea competition are: Edwig Theodor (who received the first prize), Cecilia Katjiutua, received second prize, while Theopolina Ashipala and Emsie Erastus shared third prize.
The Namibia Business Innovation Centre Business Plan Competition runs from 14 May to 3 September. The best business plans will win cash prizes.
