Communicators learn tricks from an old dog

Seasoned public relations expert, Dr Chris Skinner (seated front centre) visited Windhoek last week on invitation of the Namibian chapter of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa. Professor Skinner, a lecturer at the Durban University of Science and Technology conducted a one-day workshop, spelling out the finer points of media management, followed by a two-day workshop on the design and implementation of integrated communications strategies. Today the Typesetter is a position at a newspaper that is mostly outdated since lead typesetting disappeared about fifty years ago. It is however a convenient term to indicate a person that is responsible for the technical refinement of publishing including web publishing.
