Poly awards best student

Juliana Bockmuehl (right) is the best first year student in journalism at the Polytechnic for the 2011 academic year. The Department of Media Technology at the Polytechnic of Namibia is one of only 12 higher education institutions in Africa recognised by UNESCO as a Centre of Excellence. It has produced many well-known professional journalists over the years. To promote excellence in higher education, the Media Technology department each year awards the best student in each academic year, and the best graduates. Here, Juliana receives her award from the Deputy Head of Department, Ms Bertha Amakali. The Economist annually sponsors the awards for best first year and best second year student with a N$750 prize per category.
