Superspar reach out to volleyball

Robert Voigts, MD of Maerua Superspar with Antje Kesselmann, DTS Beach Volleyball chairperson.Due to the generous sponsorship of Maerua Superspar, DTS will once again offer seven volleyball   tournaments this year. DTS recently  received a N$30 000 sponsorship from Maerua Superspar of which N$ 28 000 will be prize money. N$4000 will be given away as prize money at every tournament while the remaining N$2000 will be handed over at tournaments slated for the end of the year.
“But for most players it is not the money that attracts them to play Volleyball, but to have a day full of fun, being outdoors, being active, being competitive and having a mission for that day,” says Heiko Kesselmann  DTS Beach volleyball event organiser.
The very popular four-a-side mixed category has shown that there is a growing demand for social Volleyball. The junior ladies category has also developed into a popular division for school girls.
The tournaments will be hosted in Windhoek at DTS, where there is a Beach Volleyball Arena, with three sand courts and some courts on the grass for the four-a-side social category. A fourth court is under construction and will be ready during the course of the year.
Kesselmann  says the four-a-side category is the best opportunity for people who love the sport of Volleyball, but are beginners or social players. Interested participants are encouraged to come together as a social group and play a fun filled, well organized tournament. This year no registered players from the Bank Windhoek Premier Indoor league are allowed to play in this social category.
The first two tournaments have already been hosted with exciting matches being played. The next tournament will take place on 16 June.
