German radio head off to Germany
The new head of the German Service at NBC Radio, Ms Panduleni Engombe has been invited by the German Embassy in Windhoek to visit Germany in May as part of a group participating in the Visitors Programme of the German Federal Government.
The German Ambassador, HE Christian Schlaga, presented Ms Engombe with her invitation at a small ceremony last week. All prospective visitors receive their invitations in person from the German Ambassador.
The group’s visit is scheduled for 1 to 7 May and the focus is on the role of the media in Germany in a pluralistic society.
Together with journalists, officials, representatives from think tanks and opinion leaders of civil society from around the world, Ms. Engombe will have the opportunity to familiarise herself with Germany’s pluralistic media landscape. The programme will focus on independence of the press, freedom of the media and the role of journalists and journalism. The group of visitors will engage political players , private and public media, civil society organisations and bloggers. They will also participate in selected events of the German Media Convention 2016.
