Spes Bona Winter Cycling draws close

Participants at last year’s Winter Cycling Classic. The annual cycling event has been going on for four years now and is open to people of all ages.The Bible Society will host this year’s Spes Bona Winter Cycling Competition on Saturday 02 June at the Windhoek Gymnasium School. The competition starts at 08:00hrs
The event, mainly sponsored by Spes Bona Motors, is expected to attract between 300 and 500   participants. According to Christel Langenhoven, communication officer for the Bible Society, the competition which began in 2009, is aimed at creating awareness for the activities of the Bible Society and getting all citizens involved in the work the society does.
Money raised at this year’s event will be used to assist in the translation and distribution of Bibles in all Namibian languages across the country.
The cycling competition is open to persons of all ages and ground covered is up to the participant as  the race length ranges  from 10km, 30km or 60km routes for more serious cyclists.
The entry fees for each participant is N$ 60 including a medal, coke and hotdog. The first 150 entrants will receive a free goody bag.
Langenhoven said that people that enter before 02 June will qualify to win a weekend for two at the Hilton Hotel.
