mv SS Nujoma leaves the dry dock

Debmarine has just added the mining vessel SS Nujoma to its fleet of five mining ships, bringing the fleet to six blue water craft. The mv SS Nujoma is the most advanced marine diamond sampling and exploration vessel in the world. The 113 metre ship was launched at the Kleven Verft AS shipyard in Ulsteinvik Norway over the previous weekend. The 12000 tonne vessel was launched ahead of schedule to the applause of the shipowners, shipbuilders and the Ulsteinvik community. After her furnishings are complete, the SS Nujoma sails for Cape Town where the subsea sampling system and treatment plant will be installed, during the second semester. She is due for commissioning in Namibian waters early in 2017. “This adventure is still in the making as much work still needs to be done prior to the vessel’s maiden voyage to Africa and the loyalty, dedication and commitment of the project team is commendable,” said Otto Shikongo, Debmarine Namibia Chief Executive Officer.
