Hearts and Love is the theme of an art exhibition hosted by Barbara Böhlke, opening on Saturday morning in the courtyard of the Goethe Centre in Windhoek. All the painting are available for sale and six painting by renowned local artists, will be auctioned immediately after the opening ceremony.

‘’With Love” an exhibition for charity by students and friends of the Barbara Böhlke Art School opens this Saturday, 21 November at 10:00 at the Goethe Centre and will be followed by an auction of paintings by several acclaimed Namibian artists. The auction starts at 11:00 in the Goethe Centre courtyard. The exhibition runs from Saturday until Friday 04 December.
The exhibition shows ninety nine colourful hearts done by friends and students of the Barbara Böhlke Art School. All the paintings proclaim the love of giving. These were all donated by the adult and child students and are for sale during the exhibition. Six paintings by well-known artists will go on auction on Saturday. All proceeds from the sales and auction will be given to Dr. Anelle Zietsman for young cancer patients in need of support. This is the third themed exhibition hosted by Barbara Böhlke. Following the tradition of two highly praised previous charity exhibitions, all the canvases are in the same dimension (30cm x 30cm) and visitors can look forward to artworks in a wide variety of media ranging from paint (both oil and acrylic), pastels, mixed media as well as charcoal drawings.
The upcoming exhibition now is a little different than the previous two as it will also feature some artworks by artist friends of the art school. Barbara Pirron, Francois de Necker, Nicky Marais, Helen Harris and Barbara Böhlke have donated paintings with the theme of hearts to support the cause. All of them are well-known and established artists who had many solo exhibitions amongst them, not only in Windhoek but also in Windhoek and overseas. These works will go to auction.
Delicious refreshments will be provided by the Goethe-Café, who will donate their profits to the cause as well. Other sponsors who gave generous support are the Goethe Centre, NaDS, Windhoek Stationers, Readi Bites and The Market Place. The Barbara Böhlke Art School is located on Kenneth Kaunda Street in Klein Windhoek. She is an acclaimed painter and has been teaching art for 17 years at her private school. Her students are from all walks of life: adults and children and her classes are an exciting mix of beginners and the more advanced artists.
