NCCI serenades Dr Hage Geingob

The Namibian Chamber Of Commerce and Industry held a special gala dinner in honour of His Excellency, Dr Hage Geingob at the Windhoek Country Club.
A statement read by previous NCCI President Martha Namundjebo/ Tilahun on behalf of Mr. Sven Thieme, the current NCCI President who was absent said “As the leadership of the NCCI, we thought it would be appropriate and significant to host this special event on behalf of the Namibian business community and use it to express our profound appreciations to our President for the enormous contributions which he has made to this country in various capacities and his willingness to continue serving this nation and humanity in general.
Your selfless decision at a very tender age to leave the country for exile and join your fellow countrymen and women who stood up against colonialism, apartheid and injustices in our society, is in itself a major personal sacrifice and a show of significant commitment to working in the best interests of your people. As a very young man, you championed the Namibian liberation cause at the United Nations and in the United States of America together with your colleagues. There is no doubt that the work which you have done made an immeasurable impact on the struggle for independence and freedom in Namibia.” it continued.
The statement acknowledged the President’s hard work whilst he was the Minister of Trade and Industry for just over four years. It continued to say, “ The President turned the Ministry into a service oriented institution, which promoted entrepreneurship, investments and job creation, he championed a legislative environment which recognized domestic and foreign investors on equal footing and elevated the role of the Ministry in the industrial development of the economy.”
“It is the countless contributions which you have made to our country and our people as well as the quality of leadership which you have provided to us in various capacities before and after independence which compelled the business community to officially acknowledge the role which you have played both in the liberation struggle and the building of our young nation. We want to thank you for having refused to ask what Namibia can do for you but to rather identify your country’s needs and avail yourself to singularly or collectively address those needs. The Namibian business community truly appreciates not only your contributions to the development of Namibia in your various capacities before and after independence but also the fact that you made yourself available for such a huge leadership responsibility as our third Head of State at a very critical moment in our development as nation.” said Thieme.
