Bank celebrates 30 years

Bank Windhoek MD, Christo de Vries is at the helm of a vibrant financial institution. De Vries was also elected chairman of the Bankers Association recently.Three decades ago, Bank Windhoek took over from Volkskas Bank and started doing business with eight branches and a staff compliment of 60. Today, the bank has established itself as one of the leaders in the financial services industry with total assets of N$17.7 billion as at 29 February 2012 and a national branch network of 52 branches and agencies.    As the bank has grown, so has its stature as an employer. The staff complement today stands at 1280 people.
Former MD, Johan Swanepoel stated: “Over the years, the bank has stayed true to its purpose to make banking a rewarding experience to all its stakeholders and to be a partner in the development and economic growth of our country. By continually evolving along international and local trends in the industry, investing in our people, building a sound support structure and by offering client-focused solutions, we sustained the bank’s outstanding growth over the years”.
Koos Brandt, board chairman and founder member, said: “Thank you to all the staff members, past and present, who during the past 30 years have given their utmost best to satisfy the needs of our customers and through hard work and dedication made the bank an important role player in the Namibian banking industry and in the Namibian economy.”
Christo de Vries, managing director said: “I am privileged to lead the present team of dedicated staff who, together with their predecessors, can be justifiably proud of their legacy: a bank that throughout the past 30 years, stayed true to its vision of providing banking services for all Namibians and its business philosophy of building long-lasting relationships with its stakeholders.”
