Urban Style Kasi Style: An Exhibiton by Petrus Amuthenu

A provocative exhibition or urban impressionism opened this week at the La bonne table restaurant in the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre. The exhibition runs until 09 October.

This exhibition features work of rising visual artist Petrus Amuthenu depicting surrealist and socially critical drawings and paintings on life in Katutura. The works vividly depicts Amuthenu’s own outlook on life. His work is described to be dark and mysterious at times but is a potpourri of versatile images that welcome the viewer to his world. In his colourful paintings, Amuthenu uses ink, watercolours, markers and cardboard prints on papers. Petrus was trained by Namibian artist/musician Ndasuunje Papa Shikongeni who spearheaded the cardboard print art form in Namibia.
