Cohen tops Fistball league table

Andi Minz of Cohen FC 3 in action on Saturday. The team qualified for the final of the Bank Windhoek National B League

It was a successful day for Cohen FC in the Bank Windhoek National Fistball Championship last Saturday.

The club’s teams managed to qualify for both the final of the Bank Windhoek National A League and the Bank Windhoek National B League, during the last round robin matches of the championship.
The scene was set for some exciting Fistball on Saturday. The top placed teams in the Bank Windhoek National A and B League were vying for top spot, since the first team on the log after the weekend automatically qualified for the final.
The second and third placed teams meanwhile have to play in a semifinal to determine the second finalist. Both the semifinal and the decisive championship decider are set to take place in September.
In the National A League Cohen FC 1 started the day in first place. They showed a lacklustre performance in their first game of the day against championship rivals SKW 2. Nevertheless, they managed a well played 4:0 set win. Things got tougher against defending league champions SKW 1.
Cohen managed a good start to the game taking the first set before SKW came back to equalize and take the lead by winning the second and third sets. Cohen FC 1 regrouped and came back in style to win the following three sets and with that the game by 4:2 sets. The win secured the top spot for Cohen FC 1 and with that the team qualified for the championship final.
Cohen FC 3 dominated proceedings in the Bank Windhoek National B league. A 4:0 set win against DTS secured the team first place in the league and the coveted spot in the final of the Bank Windhoek National B league.
Defending champions salvaged some pride by winning two of their three matches. The team moved up one spot on the log and did not end the day in last place.
The play-off games, where the new Bank Windhoek Fistball Champions of the National A and B league will be crowned, are scheduled for 26 September 2015. The games will be held at the DTS in Windhoek.
