
A message of hope for Tsumeb
The Independence celebrations in Tsumeb started on a beautiful, sunny day in the garden city of the north. The celebrations kicked off with a march by the Namibian Police and Defence Force, each of these delighting the crowd with a display of ceremonial marching. Dr Nickey Iyambo, Minister of Veteran Affairs was the keynote speaker at the event. He shared a message of hope for the future of all Namibians, stressing the importance and positive steps taken towards the realization of Vision 2030. Councillor Anton van der Smit, deputy mayor of Tsumeb, addressed the meeting with a message of encouragement for Tsumeb. He pointed out that, in spite of a N$90 million debt owed by local taxpayers, the council is looking forward to serving the community in terms of better roads and other municipal services.
