Well-qualified for the task at hand, Rukira, who has his MSc. Hydrology and BSc. Mathematical Sciences, comes with extensive experience in water supply operations and maintenance management, particularly with respect to water abstraction, treatment and distribution. His former position as Deputy Director – Rural Water Supply South, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development, as well as more recent management positions with the Namibia Water Corporation, including General Manager: Water Supply, stand him in good stead to lead the private Namibian water treatment company. Key projects in which Rukira has played an important role include contributing to the development of Namibia’s National Water Policy and Legislation; initiating and coordinating the development of a company-wide asset management system at Namibia Water Corporation; and several trans-boundary water resources management projects on the Kunene and Orange River Basins.
