Making Hilton tick

Cecil Barnes started this month as the new maintenance manager at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek.

A new maintenance manager started this month at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, taking over from Chris van Aswegen who has moved to the Hilton Durban. Cecil Barnes, the former maintenance engineer, is the new maintenance manager.

In his former role Barnes was responsible for all engineering repairs and ensuring that all equipment is maintained. He was the first team member from Hilton Windhoek to be given the opportunity to work at Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, also as maintenance engineer, responsible for twenty projects running at that time.
“Cecil’s passion and dedication to his work are great traits that have contributed to his well-deserved promotion. His promotion at Hilton Windhoek is testament to our commitment to investing in team member skills, talent and development,” said John McAree, general manager at Hilton Windhoek.
Barnes obtained his Electrical Diploma at the Windhoek Vocational Training College. He has over 19 years of experience in the electrical engineering field and has been with Hilton Windhoek for almost three years.
“I look forward to the new role and continue working with the Hilton Windhoek team to improve our service delivery” he said.
As maintenance manager he help to ensure smooth hotel operations in line with Hilton Worldwide standards, as well as local and international FLS regulations.
