Education fair to attract locals
The Botswana Education Hub will be hosting an Education Fair in Windhoek from 14 to 15 November at the Nampower Convention Centre and in Ongwediva from 18 to 19 November at the Ongwediva Trade Fair.
The Botswana Education Hub is a unit within the Ministry of Education and Skills Development and has the “Study in Botswana” programme as one of its initiatives. Therefore in its endeavour to create Botswana as a preferred destination for education, the Botswana Education Hub holds education fairs in the countries within the region to attract learners to study in Botswana. This is in line with SADC protocol on education that each member state should enrol at least 5% international students at local fees. Botswana also takes advantage of the availability of infrastructure which its population cannot fill-up.
The Botswana Education Hub in collaboration with 15 tertiary institutions – both private and public – has held similar education fairs in Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Objectives of the organisation include making Botswana an education hub, aligning skill development with social and economic needs, promote quality and access, encourage local and international participation, as well as to make Botswana a preferred education destination.
The general public is also invited to attend the education fairs. Entrance is free.
