River Island adds fashion splendour

British haute coutier becomes available in Windhoek soon when the fashion group, River Island, opens their first Namibian store in the Grove Mall. Namibia will become the first African country outside of South Africa to experience Great British fashion.

Start-up fashion retailer, River Island, is following hot on the heels of Cotton On when it opens its first Namibian store on 12 June, also in the upmarket Grove Mall. Namibia will become the first African country outside of South Africa to experience Great British fashion in the offering at River Island.

“It’s a fashion announcement that all stylish Namibians in the know have been waiting for when River Island’s new flagship opens at The Grove Mall shopping centre on 12 June 2015” the retailer said this week in a statement announcing the intended opening.
River Island has four fashion outlets in South Africa as well as a number of store-in outlets in some Edgars branches. The Grove will be the fifth stand-alone store on the continent. “Namibians can enjoy shopping the hottest trends direct from the high street in London, with fashion- forward and affordable clothing, footwear and accessories” the group said.
River Island is an iconic brand with great British heritage. Founded and based in London, the business was created and is managed by the Lewis family. With design at the heart of the business, it prides itself on the ability to remain ahead of the trends and indeed to create them. Opening Activations
The group announced this week that the first 100 customers on the day of the store’s opening will receive N$500 off when they spend N$1000 or more when the doors open. After the official opening, the new store plans a special weekend from 25 to 28 June with plenty promotions and a live DJ. On this weekend, the first 200 shoppers will receive River Island water bottles and trendy River Island tote bags.
