Alexander Forbes Insurance this week launched a dedicated insurance product targeting the emerging category of business and professional career women.

Branded ‘5 Star Woman’, this insurance is a motor and household product tailored for all single, independent, exclusive 21st century women. At the launch, the company said “This product is merely an extension to Alexander Forbes Insurance’s great range of insurance products, – specifically catering for the single, widowed or divorced woman.
“Years of insuring women has given us great insights into what single, independent women want and need – along with the real risks they face. Being a single, successful and independent woman these days means juggling a lot of roles. Being a manager, a mother, a business leader, a sister, a strategist, while remaining at the top of your game, takes a lot of skilled management of time, resources and responsibilities” said Alexander Forbes PRO, Erika Reissner.
‘5 Star Woman’ is designed for a busy woman’s everyday insurance needs, with enhanced cover for specific personal belongings, in addition to the basics like motor and household insurance. “Personal belongings would include your handbag and its complete contents, such as make-up, purse, perfume, contact lenses and all other valuables are also included, all insured at an increased limit.”
Flaunting its feminine bias, the unique 5 Star Woman product also provides a breast cancer cover option, automatically covering women at a reduced premium for higher benefits relating to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
The service aspect is also very important to the single and busy woman. Purchasing insurance is not as easy as shopping around for other goods. “You are often forced to talk to a stranger who does not know you, does not have the time to discuss your needs in detail – while being treated like a number and forced through a script on the telephone” the insurer said adding that the last thing busy women should be doing is spending hours on the phone with various consultants, or waiting on call centres, trying to patch together the best insurance cover from different providers.
‘5 Star Woman’ offers personal service from a dedicated personal insurer who can take the time to visit potential clients and familiarise themselves with their individual lifestyle, needs and risks before issuing a policy.
Thereafter ‘5 Star Woman’ assembles a simple, hassle-free package without any hidden clauses or confusing language. It also prevents the inconvenience of not having a claim paid out because the insurer failed to ask the correct questions.
“We saw the opportunity to differentiate our offering by closely tailoring a product to the single woman’s real needs and risks in today’s life” said Reissner.
“Our realization is that you might need a handyman, now and then, to take care of the little things at home while you take care of life. Furthermore we recognize that women are better drivers and are more risk conscious and therefore we offer reduced motor premiums.
Certain ‘5 Star Woman’ insurance limits of indemnity are much higher than most products on the market. These are just a few benefits of the ‘5 Star Woman’ additional insurance cover.”
