Stronger SRT board

Following the shocking revelation by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Hon. Pohamba Shifeta on the illicit trade of rhinos horns, the Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) announced this week the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees.

To join the fight against the immediate threats facing the rhinos and their habitat the new members are: Ms. Maxi Pia Louis, Director of the Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations (NACSO), Member of the International Advisory Board Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), and a leader in the development and implementation of Namibia’s celebrated community-based natural resource management policies.
Mr. Amos Shikuya, a respected Namibian sports personality, past captain of the national football team, humble servant of the beautiful game, and business leader will also join the cause.
And lastly Ms Ginger Mauney, conservationist, author, film-maker and the Hospitality Association of Namibia Tourism Personality of the Year 2014.
The newly appointed Trustees join a strong and committed SRT Board that provides strength and guidance to SRT’s CEO, Mr Simson Uri-Khob. SRT’s full Board of Trustees are: Mr Dudu Murorua (Chairman); Mr Mike Leech (Vice-Chairman); Mr Rob Moffett; Mr Wolfgang Grellman; Mr Pierre du Preez; Mr Brandon Munro; Ms Ginger Mauney; Mr Amos Shikuya; and Ms Maxi Louis.
The Board of Trustees would also like to recognise the dedication of Mr. Rod Braby, who, after 4 years as a Trustee, is stepping down from the Board while he assumes new commitments to Namibia’s coastal conservation.
