CAN has new CEO

Rolf Hansen, new CEO of the Cancer Association with former CEO, Reinette Koegelenberg.

The Cancer Association of Namibia has announced the appointment of Mr Rolf Hansen as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 01 June 2015. Mr Hansen will have big shoes to fill by taking over from Mrs Reinette Koegelenberg and the transition period has already commenced in May 2015.

Rolf Hansen is well-known in the Namibian tourism and hospitality industry, with 10 years experience in New Business Development, Client Service and Recovery, and as a travel and tourism journalist at Republikein before starting his own business venture in 2006.
“I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that leading the Cancer Association presents to me, and wish to confirm to the public that I will continue to build on the hard work and dedication that my predecessors has established and handed over for me to take further,” said Hansen
He added that he believes in an open door policy and welcome the public and stakeholders who have supported the Association in the past to be his partners and guides during these exciting times of change.
Outgoing CEO Reinette Koegelenberg’s term of office will officially come to an end on 31 July 2015, when she will be relocating to Swakopmund. During the next two months the Office of the CEO will have open dialogue sessions with the public, as well as private and corporate supporters to introduce the new CEO to ensure a smooth transition.
Mrs Koegelenberg has served as head of the association since June 2006, after starting her journey as Projects Co-ordinator in June 2004 under the leadership of Mr Kurt Johannesson. Under her leadership the association has continued to go from strength to strength, and has made great strides in attaining its objectives, ultimately fighting and preventing cancer across a spectrum of activities.
