Trey Songz set to wow Namibia

MTC has announced the schedule for the MTC Independence Celebration Concerts, with Trey Songz performing on 30 May as the main act and Rebecca Malope on 31 May as the main act.

Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, MTC voiced that Trey Songz and his crew will arrive in Namibia on 28 May at 19:25 by Air Namibia. “Fans, the media and anyone can come join us in welcoming him,” added Tim.
Tim said that Stimela, who will be one of the supporting acts for Trey Songz will arrive in Namibia on 29 May at 07:45 am.“Gates for the Saturday show will open from 15:00, starting with a DJ plus the local supporting acts, while Trey Songz will start his performance at 21:30,” said Tim.
“The Gospel show which will be on Sunday is packaged as a family show, hence the earlier start during the day,” explained Tim. He added that Rebecca Malope will arrive in Namibia on 20 May at 10:35, by Air Namibia and the gates will open at 11:00 on Sunday. The first performance will start at 12:30 and the last act, which will be Rebecca will be from 17:15. “This plays out very well as this will be a long weekend befitting to celebrate music through the lens of our country’s rich history,” emphasised Tim.
Tim explained that tickets will also be sold on the day but only at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium and not at Independence Stadium. “Security has been highly prioritized for this event, with NAMPOL, Traffic Police, City of Windhoek Emergency Services, City Police and private security firms, involved to keep people safe,” assured Tim. He also announced that the public will benefit from free transport after the show on Saturday from the stadium to the following drop off points: Pioneers Park, UNAM, Dorado Park, Hochland Park, Academia, Katutura, Wanaheda, Windhoek West, Khomasdal and Cimbebasia. Tim concluded by announcing that the host for Saturday’s show will be Paul Da Prince and Che Ulenga and the host for Sunday night will be Franklin Shitaleni.
