Lively #Nu#Goaes festival in Keetmans

The Keetmanshoop community is all set for the #Nu#Goaes festival where the popular dance of the South, the Nama Stap will feature, brilliantly performed by young girls in their traditional Nama dresses.

Since Desmond Basson took over as the CEO of the Keetmanshoop Municipality, things have begun moving for the capital of the South.

This week the Keetmanshoop Municipality launched the first-ever #Nu#Goaes Festival sheduled for the end of the month. As a prelude, this Friday a Gala Dinner, doubling as a fundraiser for the festival, will be held a the Schuetzenhaus.
Announcing the #Nu#Goaes Arts & Cultural Festival under the theme “embracing our roots”, the municipality said “The festivities will be preceded by a Gala Dinner on 17 April 2015, at the Schützenhaus Guest House. Tables for the Gala Dinner can be purchased at a cost of N$ 4000 for a table of ten, and individual tickets are sold for N$400 each. The guests of honour at this prestigious event will be the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs and the Keetmanshoop Urban Constituency Councillor, Hilma Nicanor, and the newly appointed Governor of the Karas Region, Hon. Lucia Basson.
“The festival itself will be a celebration of all that makes the South unique complimented by various well-known Namibian artists like the Southern sensation Adora as well as Jericho and Damara Dik Ding.”
The festival will be open to exhibitors of typical Nama arts and crafts and superb southern cuisine! Lots of other activities like the crowning of Ms. #Nu#Goaes, a talent competition, life stock auction and soccer and netball tournaments are also on the cards.
Public Relations Officer of the Keetmanshoop Municipality, Dawn Kruger said “The CEO, Desmond Basson, invites all Namibians to join the Municipality in this quest to foster greater cultural understanding amongst the inhabitants of this beautiful country.”
