Welwitchias in fight to avoid bottom

The Welwitchias have it all to play for when they take on the Assupol Limpopo Blue Bulls who also hope for a better position on the northern section log standings.

The Welwitchias are in action this weekend at the Hage Geingob Stadium when they lock horns with the team from Polokwane.
Last weekend the Vodacom Blue Bulls ran riot on the Welwitchias at the Hage Geingob Stadium in the capital. Corniel Els, Kefentse Mahlo, Kobus Marais, Marquit September and Roelof ran circles around the Welwitchias forwards for an impressive final score of 44-0.
Following their impressive show, the Vodacom Blue Bulls lie second on the log while the Welwitchias have everything to play for in order to avoid finishing rock bottom of the Northern Section Log. The Xeros Golden Lions and the DHL Western Province retained their section leaderships and it was business as usual as the Lions and Western Province marched to victory, ensuring home plays offs.
The ‘best’ result of the day was secured by North Section leaders, the Xerox Golden Lions, who recorded a hard-fought 24-16 victory over the Steval Pumas, the only team among the top five not to win, having started the round in second place. The Lions’ fifth successive win allowed the Vodacom Blue Bulls to leapfrog into second position on the northern log, courtesy of a 44-0 victory in Windhoek.
Scorers:
Blue Bulls – Tries: Corniel Els (2), Kefentse Mahlo, Kobus Marais, Marquit September, Roelof Smit (2). Conversions: Marais (2), Tinus de Beer. Penalty: Marais.
